What will you do?
In this Dairy Climate Change program, you will be undertaking a range of modules and short activities to help you consider the opportunities and challenges of climate change for your farm business.
There are three modules to complete in this program:
- Climate Risks for Dairy – this module explores the difference between weather and climate, some changes we’ve been observing the causes and what to expect with our future climate. It also covers the basics of climate risk, the process of managing it, climate extremes and how to assess climate risk impacts for your individual farm.
- Adapting to climate change – Understand climate impacts for dairy farming regions, and key adaptation options to manage climate change for your farm
- Dairy greenhouse gas emissions – Find out about the key sources of emissions from dairy farms, how to calculate your carbon footprint and the practical options to reduce emissions.
-
Why is it important to Australian dairy farmers?
Managing climate is one of the most important factors affecting farm performance – how we manage it is critical to ensure future sustainability and profitability of the dairy sector. Climate and carbon is just one of the many risks we need to be able to manage in the business, and policy and private sector climate targets are likely to impact on how we operate in the future. We need to be prepared!
