Before beginning an insemination, you need to prepare. By being prepared you have the best chance of success. Before starting AI on a cow, you should body condition score them and ensure they are in the right range. You should also ensure that nutrition and feeding are right for the cow and herd. You need to be aware of and follow animal welfare legislation, biosecurity, and environmental best practices. 

Right before you begin to AI you should ensure that your tools are sterile, hygiene strategy is in place and all of your documentation is ready to go.
