      Overview

      While water has always been a variable resource, climate and environmental changes impact are increasing the variability by changing rainfall patterns and increasing extreme weather events including both drought and floods. As a result, dairy operations need to consider on-farm water security and water use efficiency for their future viability. 

    • Key learning objectives

      The objectives of this module are to:  

      • analyse the use, availability, and quality of water on the dairy farm
      • analyse the key water management issues faced by the dairy industry, and 
      • find the effects of current water use practices of the dairy industry on the sustainability of water resources.
