Our Farm Our Plan 1:1 Sessions
-
Farmers participating in Our Farm Our Plan will benefit from one-on-one sessions with experienced facilitators.
These can happen on farm, online or on the phone depending on the circumstances and your preference.
Four sessions spaced over two years will provide you with follow up that gives the support needed to put your plan into action, apply a level of accountability and assist making planning and review a normal part of farming.
Session One
This comes after the workshops (face to face or online) and will make sure you have captured your plan on a page. It will stress test your goals to make sure they are SMART and achievable and will also make sure everyone is on the same page.
Session Two
3 - 5 months into it your Regional Extension Officer will check in to see how things are going with the plan. This will give you a chance to regroup and check your progress. All decision makers in the business should be involved so that there’s one conversation and joint decisions can be made.
Session Three
This is the ‘review and reset’ session. Held 10 – 12 months after starting the program this session will involve the people involved in setting up your plan in the first one-on-one session. You will apply the Our Farm Our Plan review process and consider all aspects of your farm business. You will be supported to reset your plan and go again.
Session Four
After 20 – 24 months your Regional Extension Officer will check in again. Again, this will bring you together around your plan, review your progress and reset.
As your key contact with Dairy Australia your Regional Extension Officer will be able to direct you to programs, services and support that can assist you to achieve your goals.

How do the 1:1 sessions happen?
All one-on-one sessions will be coordinated by Dairy Australia’s regional teams. You will have a Regional Extension Officer who is your key contact and they will make the necessary arrangements which will be confirmed with you by email.
To get the most out of these sessions all the decision makers in your business should be involved. In most cases this will involve family members, but it might also involve other people.
It also helps to think about what you want to get from these sessions. The main aim will be getting your Plan on a Page in shape and working for you, with the experience of the people involved giving you the chance to test your ideas and plans. Having a fresh set of eyes on your plan has proven to be highly valuable for farmers participating in Our Farm Our Plan.

One-On-One Session Checklist
For each of the 1:1 sessions try to do the following:
- Make it a priority and buy in to the process
- Make it at a time when you can have all decision makers involved
- Have your Our Farm Our Plan folder and your Plan on a Page on hand
- Revisit the plan before each session so that you’re familiar with it and check off things that you’ve made progress on
Before the session think about and discuss what you want to get out of it – the more you prepare the more value you'll get.
Don’t see it as a test – see it as an opportunity!
