How important is the ability to traceback to the 'pre-farm' sector?
It's very important as sometimes when certain batches of items are not in the condition to sell or when a customer raises issues with a particular batch, it is a good way to check back what happened to that batch.
It is important to have a traceability system that allows the grower to track the produce from the field to the buyer. With this system has both benefit for producers and consumers. Regarding producers, this system helps improving processes, controlling the supply chain, minimizing defect risk, and improving customer service levels, for instance they can identify and recall a lot of product in the market if there are any contaminated issues or complaints from customers. It is thus enhanced customer confidence because customers are assured of product quality as they can see where products are sourced, how they are built and how they are delivered.
i think it depends on the consumer itself, for example the lower class may not think that it is important to traceback the product they are buying as long as it is from good brand and the price makes sense. as long as there is no issue after consumption, they are satisfied with the purchase. things may be different for smarter/more affluent consumer who are more curious and critical. they would want to know where the product comes from and trace back to the pre-farm process to make sure that the product is good.
on the other hand, manufacturer who buy dairy ingredients would want the ability to traceback to pre-farm sector, to ensure the quality of the ingredients is according to the desired specification.

Product traceability is very important for both producers and consumers. Producers need to be aware of the potential for contamination as food is transported from farm to shelf.
It is means that the history from procurement of raw materials (pre-farm, farm) , manufacturing process , distribution, and sales can be traced forward or backward. Manufacturers can monitor “to where their products have been delivered (can trace forward)” while consumers in the downstream can understand “from where the products in their hands have come ( can trace back)”.
This provides manufacturers with the benefit of easier cause investigation and product recall when unexpected problems occur with their products.
manufacturer will trace its origin from farm raw materials and farm will find it easier to trace the input of pre- farm if everything is completely documented.
Consumers can also use this as a benchmark to select highly reliable products, without worries and this will improve the level of confidence to buy the product.

In every supply chain, traceability helps to increase supply chain visibility, improve quality control systems and reduce risk.
The ability to traceback to the 'pre-farm' sector is very important to dairy farmers and producers. It helps them to find the source of problem, such as high level of somatic cells, residue of antibiotics in raw milk, unexpected sensory defects, ... By screening data from traceability system, they can find the reason and take corrective and preventive actions accordingly.
Tracebility to the 'pre-farm' sector is also meaningful to consumers. As consumers become more aware of where products come from, they are willing to buy products with a transparent origin. In some cases, using the QR code on the label, consumers can trace back to the farm that the milk in their bottle comes from. This really makes them feel more confident about the quality and the safety of the products.

Traceability is very crucial to improve customer confidence. These systems will assure customers that the products they're purchasing are of high quality and follows food safety standards. In case of product issues, it would be easy to pin point mismanaged areas or origin.
