1. Auditing means evaluating the effectiveness of a company's internal controls. This process plays a key role as maintaining an effective system of internal controls is vital for achieving a company's business objectives, obtaining reliable financial reporting on its operations, preventing fraud and misappropriation of its assets, and minimizing its cost of capital. Since consumers pay more attention on food safety and quality matters, auditing process is being used widely in the food industry to evaluate management systems, obtain certifications to certain food safety and quality standards in order to improve the effectiveness of the food safety and quality management systems.
2. Within the factory environment each staff has their own roles and responsibilities regarding food safety, from the business owner, technical supervisor, workers ...
3. I just had an opportunity to participate in a meeting with Mondelez people who came to our factory for an auditing process, they asked a lot of questions regarding factory plan, production flow, production steps ... Many things to learn.

1. What is the role of the auditing process and how it can be used to improve food safety?
auditing is a systematic, independent and documented activity in which objective evidence is collected and assessed to determine whether a food safety system is appropriate and effective.
This process plays a key role as an important component in maintaining food safety and certification standards, providing transparency and ensuring that standards are maintained. This transparency increases the collaborative capacity of stakeholders throughout the supply chain, and improves safety, efficiency and continuous improvement in individual organizations.
Food safety audits usually is centred on defined requirements set out in food safety standards, legislation and internal operating standards. It specifically focuses on the requirements, criteria, procedures, activities and data relating to the safe production and supply of food products
Process auditing is an effective management tool that is used appropriately, auditing helps in adding value to the activities of the organization and contributing to improvement.

2. Who is responsible for food safety within the factory environment?
Within the factory environment, everyone is responsible for food safety for food they produce in accordance with their respective responsibilities.

3. Have you been involved in a customer audit process? How was this experience? What did you learn?
I have been involved in the customer audit process.
This is an invaluable experience as we can work closely with customer auditors to check whether the food safety systems we implement are effective and meet customer needs.
This will add to our insight and knowledge, because we get different perfectives from the customer side, especially if there is a gap between the auditor and the auditee and if there is a discrepancy in the application of the food safety system so that corrective action can be taken immediately .

1. The role of the auditing process is to provide independent assurance that an organisation's risk management and internal control processes are operating effectively. By auditing activity, we can determine if a food safety system is appropriate and effective, if hazards are properly identified and controlled or eliminated. As results of auditing process, corrective actions must be completed if any unconformity has been found, which helps the organisation to improve the strength and the effectiveness of their food safety system.
2. I think all of personnel in the factory are responsible for the food safety of products. But managers and people, who are directly involved in production processes and quality control activites have to take more responsibility.
3. Yes, i have some experiences being customer auditor. In several cases, we helped our material suppliers to improve their quality and food safety plan. In other cases, we learnt from our OEM partners how to reduces risks by applying automatic technology in production process and in the smart warehouse. It was really worth.

1. The role of the auditing process is to usually focused on defined requirements within the food safety standards and that is to include the audit of the process, the people working, the raw materials used, the equipments and the laboratory methods and procedures as well as the product recall and customer complaints as well. When all of these are checked and found to be within compliance then there is the guarantee of food safety compliance which will greatly improve PRODUCT QUALITY.
2. Responsibility is owned by the team and that to include all involved in the manufacture but most importantly the quality assurance people should always be the lead.
3. Yes been involved several times and it was a great experience to learn from the auditors. Admittedly there are always loopholes in the food audit and learning those mistakes teaches me on how to improve better and eliminate the food safety risk.
