Covering the Basics

Welcome to Covering The Basics. This module covers core concepts in farm business fundamentals and provides the basis for the rest of the course. By completing this module, you will be able to identify good farm business management practices and describe how these relate to your farm business, recognise the importance of good farm business management as part of farming, calculate Farm Operating Cash Surplus and apply it to your business and  identify key farm business fundamentals terminology and apply terminology to theories, practices and farm business situations. 

The module should take about 20 minutes to complete. Within the module there are seven activities to complete and a video to watch as well as text to read on the topic. The activities will help reinforce the material being presented and help you learn the topic.

You should also download and have on hand the course Glossary of Terms which you can reference throughout the module.

As you progress through the Farm Business Fundamentals workshops you will come across practical ideas and options that you could apply in your farm business. Download the Action Plan and use it to note things you will action after completing the course.

Obligations

Welcome to Obligations. This module covers your key obligations for farm business management activities. By completing this module, you will be able to identify the difference between personal and business expenses, describe your tax and legal obligations as a farm business owner and access relevant information and/or support to ensure you are meeting your tax and legal obligations as a farm business manager. 

The module should take about 30 minutes to complete. Within the module, there are seven activities to complete and a video to watch as well as text to read on the topic. The activities will help reinforce the material being presented and help you learn the topic.
