Are you concerned about the complexities, opportunities and risks associated with water trading in the GMID? Would you like to learn how to address and respond to this challenge? If so, this course is for you. 
In this program, you will become familiar with the concepts that control water trading in the GMID.   
You will engage with the consequences of the changes to the market and cyclical volatility of the system.
You will identify how your unique situation influences the steps you can and should take and apply that knowledge to become better water manager.

  • Understand the basic terminology used in water markets in the region
  • Understand the mechanics of buying, trading and carryover water
  • Understand how the basic market mechanisms impact price and availability of irrigation water and identify opportunities to apply to own farm
  • Understand how your water portfolio and farm system function together and evaluate options to plan your water portfolio
  • Evaluate seasonal, allocation and price signals and apply to your farm business
  • Document a plan to position your farm for long term irrigation need
  • Evaluate and refine the plan on an annual basis
